SKYTCH_v02
The latest development with our conceptual 3D sketching in Maya for the eVolo competition. Loose, fast, and fun modelling!

Our reviewers appreciated the more refined yet conceptual look of these two images and gave us plenty of great criticism to work with. Our project will be in Rio de Janeiro which inspired the Favela like ‘pez-dispenser’ units flanking the main tower. The exterior of the shell will incorporate much of our sustainable agenda while the varying floor-like plates within the shell satisfy various residential and commercial agendas.

While the ’skytches’ advanced our project in the right direction, they have served their purpose and will not be refined any further. We are now returning to our sketchbooks to work on the next set of concept drawings to further develop our vision. Also, the form was unconsciously albeit strikingly familiar to this particular eVolo entry which was awarded Second Place in ‘08.

I think it would be cool to have a structure like that in the picture that could accept plug in living or business qsuarters like that of a VHS being inserted into a VCR. You could have slots configured to accept a plug for all the vitals such as electric, water, HVAC, ect… That way any structure that accepts these “Plug-ins” could be built anywhere including other planets and if you decide to relocate, you simply unplug and move your “PAD” to the new location.
It could be like having a big computer tower with empty PCI slots or as small as individual docking pads for those who choose to live out in the country.
Of course you would have to design some cool looking elevator/loading device that could lift the pad and place it in the desired slot but that would be up to the Wizards of Design Epidemic.
